SALT LAKE CITY REGENT STREET

Regent Street is a central component of Salt Lake City's Regent and Main Arts District, serving as a vital connector between City Creek Center and Gallivan Plaza while drawing visitors from the Eccles Theater into the heart of the block. Once underused, the area has been revitalized through a collaborative redesign led by GSBS Architects, involving landscape architects, branding specialists, and community engagement experts.

The streetscape design honors the site's history as a newspaper printing hub, featuring a “press sheet” motif embedded in the paving. The project also improved Orpheum Avenue, added a mid-block pedestrian connection to Main Street, and redesigned the street without curbs to enhance walkability while still allowing vehicle access. Covering over 50,000 square feet, the redevelopment integrates urban design, landscape architecture, and upgraded infrastructure above and below ground.
