GSBS designed the replacement middle school for Glendale Middle School. The design includes a large community education component. The neighborhood is multicultural and proud of its diverse heritage.  The design includes many references to the cultural diversity of the school. The curving bands used in the landscape and pavement weave through the building and come together in the commons. The metaphor is continued in a mural painted by the students, which is a map of the world. 

The school is an important component in the larger community. The building is energy efficientómaximizing daylight and providing a variety of outdoor learning experiences including a community garden. The project was completed on time to accommodate the 2007-2008 school year.

The replacement school includes 6th through 9th grades with a student body of 900.
