Sandy City Neighborhood Activity Centers

Sandy City partnered with GSBS to reimagine aging strip malls as vibrant Neighborhood Activity Centers, designed to enhance both the daily lives of residents and the experience of visitors. These centers create welcoming spaces where people can shop, dine, and gather while enjoying a more engaging, pedestrian-friendly environment. Strategically located to take advantage of tourism from nearby Little Cottonwood Canyon and the Alta and Snowbird ski resorts, the centers offer a seamless transition from outdoor adventure to social and commercial activity. Urban design guidelines ensure these areas are not only functional and economically viable but also visually appealing and inviting, making them destinations where both locals and guests want to spend time.

The Sandy General Plan, combined with the Station Area Plans and Neighborhood Activity Centers was the recipient of the APA Utah Outstanding Plan- Urban Award in 2025.
