Mike Stransky
GSBS FOUNDING PRINCIPAL / president emeritus
FAIA, leed ap
Mike is a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects and has served on the National AIA Board of Directors and was a National Vice President in 1995. His service to the profession includes over 15 years on the National AIA Documents Committee. Other professional contributions include service on the National Architectural Accreditation Board and as a peer reviewer for ACEC. Mr. Stransky currently serves the University of Utah as a member of the Advisory Board for the College of Architecture and Planning, Chairman of the Campaign Committee and as a member of the President’s Campaign Cabinet. He serves as a Region 8 representative on the National Small Business Administration Office of the National Ombudsman.
As the principal responsible for business development he created the tradition of a victory dance on the conference table whenever the firm won a major commission. Our third conference table is always ready for a victory.
Mike and his wife Carolyn are empty nesters, having three grown children, several in-laws and grandchildren. He still keeps an eye on the younger folks in the firm (all of them) and if he forgot your name he calls you “kiddo.” Mike and Carolyn enjoy travel, gardening, golf, tennis, RVing, and motorcycle touring, none of which have they mastered.
Mike is found less in the office these days working only on special projects.
