Weber State University McKay Education Building
A campus design project at its core, the Weber State University McKay Education Building offered a unique opportunity to design beyond the traditional scope of campus design. The site plan includes a complete renovation of the Melba S. Lehner Children’s School playground, where a biophilic approach introduces a nature walk, interpretive signage, and nature-inspired play equipment that enriches learning through exploration. Thoughtfully integrated entries improve pedestrian flow, and an updated, fully accessible entrance creates a welcoming experience for all users. The planting strategy preserved mature shade trees, adds new trees for added shade and beauty, and incorporates a water-wise planting palette to support a resilient landscape.
