The goal of the SLCC Technical Arts Building design was to create a welcoming courtyard and green spaces that connect seamlessly to campus walkways, plazas, and gathering areas. Campus plazas and landscaped areas were designed to encourage informal meetings and events. Wider pedestrian paths improve circulation and accessibility, integrating the building into the broader campus. Drought-tolerant plantings enhance the landscape, while on-site stormwater is managed through discreetly integrated detention basins sized for roof and hardscape runoff. All plantings use secondary water delivered through low-flow irrigation with purple non-potable indicators, ensuring plants receive only the water they need while conserving resources.
