PLANNER Level 2 (6+ YEaRS EXPERIENCE) - Utah OFFICE

GSBS Architects is an award-winning, inter-disciplinary design and planning firm with a collaborative culture that supports career growth and advancement within the firm. We have an immediate opening, in our Salt Lake City Office, for a Planner with an accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree in planning, geography or related field and 6+ years of experience in a professional planning or consulting environment.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Manage projects, including developing the scope of work and schedule, and preparing for and participating in client meetings

  • Present directly to clients and the public

  • Create, analyze, and visualize geospatial information to enhance the understanding and analysis of socio-economic, demographic, and planning information, and data

  • Identify and gather socio-economic, demographic, and planning data to conduct technical analyses

  • Analyze planning options, zoning, and code requirements

  • Develop solutions to specific planning or community design issues

  • Summarize and convey a variety of methodologies and findings using text, graphs, and tables

  • Develop and prepare information for public consumption and outreach materials including maps, charts, graphs, text, and infographics

  • Lead stakeholder and public outreach meetings to answer questions, generate input, and document feedback

  • Utilize comments and information from various meetings to formulate clear and concise recommendations in planning documents

  • Provide strategic input for marketing/business development opportunities, develop content for proposals, and participate in interviews

  • Strong writing skills

  • Planning and executing complete planning documents, technical reports, diagrams, and analysis

  • Working in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)

  • ESRI ArcGIS

  • Database analysis

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

     

Candidates should have working knowledge of public engagement software (Social Pinpoint).

This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. Salary is competitive and dependent upon experience. GSBS values and prefers in-person collaboration but gives employees the flexibility to work from non-office locations at times and when effective and coordinated with project, team, and firm needs. Candidates must be willing to work evening and weekend hours when needed to attend community engagement events.
