Amy Tetreault-Nelson
Architect
AIA, NOMA
Originally from Idaho, Amy moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah, where she has earned her B.S. in Architectural Studies (’19) and Master of Architecture (’21). Amy started at GSBS as a student intern in 2018; She loved the incredible culture, design values, and projects at GSBS that she decided to continue her career at GSBS.
Amy has always had a passion for people and the communities they create. Having been involved in many student organizations at the U, Amy fell in love with creating inclusive spaces for all user types and the energy that campus communities cultivate. This has driven Amy to explore universal design concepts further while focusing on public and higher education projects. A key highlight for her was being the project coordinator for the new University of Utah Price Computing & Engineering Building.
Amy also focuses heavily on Resort & Hospitality projects, a sector she didn’t know she would be part of and now can’t imagine not. With her delight for mountains and the outdoors, Amy was captivated by designing on-mountain projects and the complexities they create. Having never skied till 2025, Amy brings new perspectives to resort projects by aligning with summer and non-skier user types and how they may engage with the adventure across the mountain peaks. One of Amy’s highlights is designing the new tram and architectural enclosures at Big Sky Resort.
Amy obtained her architectural license in September 2023. She is also involved in many professional organizations; She serves on the Women in Architecture SLC executive board, is a chair member of the Young Architects Forum, and is an active member of NOMA Utah. In her free time, Amy is often exploring a new brewery with her husband and friends, meeting up with her book clubs, at a sporting event, or a concert. Her record is twenty-one concerts in a single year!
