Born and raised in Wyoming, Garth takes pride in his home state while appreciating the life he has built in Utah over the last two decades. Garth began his architectural education with a Structural Engineering degree from the University of Wyoming and completed it with a Masters of Architecture from the University of Utah.
Garth’s background in structures afforded him an appreciation for his involvement in the Utah Olympic Speed Skating Oval, with its light-weight cable suspension structure. However, his primary contribution to that project was successfully leading it through the pilot phase of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. Since that time, Garth has become the firm’s leader in sustainable design—directing the company’s LEED projects, providing sustainable design consulting services and leading GSBS’ energy engineering division. Garth enjoys technical projects that require an integrated design approach.
When not at work, Garth spends his time with his wife and two kids, and enjoys racing his VW GTI, boating in the summer and skiing in the winter.
