Makenzie Simonson

INTERIOR DESIGNER
Well AP

Makenzie is originally from Ohio and then moved to St. Augustine, Florida where she grew up and lived for over 15 years. She graduated from the University of Florida (go gators!) in 2022 with a Bachelor of Design in Interior Design. She moved out to Utah for a change of scenery and to master skiing, her favorite outdoor activity.

Makenzie decided to work in Interior Design to better the communities and environment around her. In college, Makenzie worked as an outdoor guide where she led students on outdoor recreational trips such as backpacking, kayaking, paddle boarding and more. She loves traveling and has been to over 20 countries. She studied in Florence, Italy for two months which taught her more about her favorite design styles: Renaissance and Gothic architecture. Back home she has two pups named Lola and Stella that she misses dearly, along with her older brother, parents, and grandpa. Outside of work, Makenzie enjoys spending time with friends in the park or at coffee shops.

At GSBS, Makenzie is a Junior Interior Designer, in the process of becoming licensed. She works in the Salt Lake office and focuses a lot on sustainability and overall wellbeing in her designs. She has experience in construction documentation, space planning, furniture/finish selection, renderings, and all sorts of different types of projects including hospitality and commercial. As a recent graduate, she is excited to learn more and continue connecting with people through design.
