Garrett Stone

GIS Specialist

An east-coaster by birth, west-coaster by heart, and someone who swore they’d never live in the mid-west, Garrett grew up in semi-rural Pennsylvania and promptly moved to Washington in 2011 after graduating from Syracuse University. After serving in the Army until 2015, and not wanting to leave behind Mount Rainier or the San Juan Islands, he sought a Master of Arts in Community Planning from the University of Washington-Tacoma. Drawn to work around Cincinnati’s re-emergence as a mid-western social and economic hub, Garrett, despite many promises otherwise, left the Pacific Northwest in 2018.

Moving to Utah in 2022, Garrett is the newest member of the GSBS planning team and is looking forward to applying a people-centric, data-driven and analytical perspective to future projects. He is keenly interested in neighborhood-scale development patterns, public policy, and understanding the productions of place through participatory mapping and long-range demographic shifts.

Garrett is dog-lover, flannel-wearer, veteran, and hammocking enthusiast. Like any good Utahn (even a new one!), he climbs, bikes, and is looking forward to breaking in his new pair of skis on some fresh Wasatch pow. He is a strong proponent of moderation in moderation.
